The Honest Roadmap

There is a temptation, especially around board meetings, to draw a roadmap that looks like a Swiss train schedule. Crisp arrows. Clean quarters. No weather.

The honest roadmap admits weather. It says: here is what we believe; here is what would change our minds; here is the date by which we will know.

Stakeholders, in my experience, would rather have the truth on a slightly later date than the fiction on the original one.
